Actor JP Reddy, who goes by the name JP, is ready to showcase a story that he believes will resonate with anyone who has transitioned from a village to a city in pursuit of better education. The movie, titled Karki, serves as the debut project in Kannada cinema for Tamil director Pavitran. Sharing insights about the upcoming film, JP highlights, "We explore various compelling themes in this narrative, such as caste dynamics and the fundamental right to education on a broader scale." However, embodying the character presented its challenges, as the actor recounts, "Upon hearing the script from director Pavitran, I initially had reservations about fitting into this role. Being a product of city upbringing, adapting my demeanor to portray a rural character felt like a formidable task. I shed 6 kilos through strict dietary measures and for the entire duration of filming, solely wore four shirts purchased from Gurjari market in Shivajinagar. The transformation in appearance and mannerisms was substantial. Yet, this is the craft of acting. It demands fully immersing oneself in the character being portrayed. Without this commitment, attempting a role is futile. Embracing the character as part of oneself is crucial to authentic portrayal," explains JP.
